Ms. Carolyn Alice Hales, 82, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, November 1, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Trenton, NJ on November 23, 1937, daughter to the late William and Elsie Roback Goldstraw. Carolyn graduated with a BA Degree from Bob Jones University where she lettered in basketball. She taught school with the Fort Bragg School System for many years before retirement. Carolyn was a member of Haymount Freewill Baptist Church and was a singer with the gospel group Laborer’s for Christ for many years. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lloyd Winger Jr. and Robert Hales, brothers, Robert Goldstraw and John ‟Jack” Goldstraw and a sister, Gladys Welch. She will be greatly missed.
Carolyn is survived by her sons, Lloyd E. Winger III and wife Michelle, Timothy C. Winger; daughters, Deborah W. Rutka and husband Charles, Teresa L. Scott and Dawn K. Collinsworth; 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 9:30 AM -11:00 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Haymount Freewill Baptist Church, 126 Eastwood Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
Funeral Services will follow the visitation with Reverend John Davis officiating.
Burial will be in LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
