SSG W.T. Pete Whaley, (Ret), 82, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.
W.T. was born in Martin County, NC on August 4, 1942 to the late William Asa Taylor and Florence Whaley. W.T. Enlisted in the US Army and served over 22 years retiring in 1985. He continued working for the Army Corps of Engineers Until his retirement to spend his time with his family. W.T. loved his dog, Little Bit and a puppet named Miss Piggy. He was a jokester and was always joking around, loved Country and Gospel Music and watching those Western Movies.
W.T. and his late wife Lessie were faithful members of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. His involvement in the church community was a testament to his love for the Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family, Church family, friends and all who knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Lessie Adams Bullard-Whaley.
W.T. is survived by his children, Sarah Bullard, Clarence Whaley (Diana), Patricia Archer, Ricky Clark, Cynthia Chase (Robert), Carolyn Keys, Donald Clark (Susie), Sally Priest (Charles), Thomas Treadway, : 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends.
In honor of W.T.’s life, the family will receive friends12:30 – 1:30 PM, Friday, February 28, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3527 Dundle Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28306.
Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 1:30 PM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Winebarger officiating.
Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 3:00 PM in LaFayette Memorial Park West, 6701 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for the care given to WT and to Sarah Bullard for bringing him home and taking such great care of him during his sickness.
