Retired Sergeant First Class William Brent Mortensen, 75, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 in Durham University Medical Center
SFC Mortensen was born August 8, 1937 in New Haven County, CT to the late Fredrick and Evelyn Anderson Mortensen. He retired from the US Army and then worked for the Civil Service. He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Hammonds Mortensen.
Surviving SFC Mortensen are a son, Richard Lee Mortensen of Fayetteville; daughter, Diana Beasley of Hope Mills; 2 sisters, Betty Horan of Clairmont, FL and Judy Roberts of Naugatuck, CT; 4 grandchildren, Brianna Mortensen, Timothy Coffman, Kristina Countryman and Matthew Coffman; 2 great grandchildren, Daniel Walton and Isaac Coffman.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday, January 5, 2013 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services with Military honors will be 2:00 PM Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Walstone Memorial Baptist Church, 260 Walstone Road Fayetteville, NC 28301 with Reverend Wesley Wallace officiating..
