Wayne Edward Byrd Sr.

Mr. Wayne Edward Byrd Sr., 69, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2020 in his home.

Wayne was born in Cumberland County on April 8, 1951, son to the late Lester and Ruby Hall Byrd. He worked as a painter in construction before retirement. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 3 brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Byrd of the home; sons, Tony Merritt and wife Linda and Wayne Byrd Jr. and wife Liz, all of Fayetteville; a daughter, Barbara Ammons and husband Everette of Fayetteville; a brother, Robert Byrd of Fayetteville; a sister, Glenda Barefoot of Stedman and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, October 18, 2020 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304 with Pastor Gary Leviner Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends at 3:30 PM Sunday following the service at the home of Wayne and Mae, 4045 Thompson Ave., Fayetteville, NC 28304.
