Wanda Faye Peden Cox

Wanda Faye Peden Cox, 87, was born in Artesia, New Mexico on September 8, 1937. She went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her son’s house in Fayetteville, NC surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor (Ray) Cox; parents, Thomas and Lenora Peden, and sister, Vonnie and brother Tommy.

She is survived by her children, Claudia (Steve) Fisher, Jacob (Kathy) Cox, Michael (Suzanne) Cox, and Mark (Amy) Cox; her grandchildren, Michael Fisher, Thaner Cox, Lauren (Brandon) Ice, Curtis ( Summer) Cox, Nathan (Emily) Cox, Hannah (Jarrod) Sandy, Kelsey Cox, Rachel Cox, and Ryan Cox; her great-grandchildren, Emma, Sawyer, Waylan, Luke, Nora, Logan, and Liam; Her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nancy (Clinton) Means, Terry (Carol) Cox, Angela Curran and Ruth Trent, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Over the years, Wanda worked in the children's ministry in churches. She loved her church family at Faith Baptist Church and served in many capacities working with children's church, Sunday School, and Vacation Bible School. She also loved her community and friends at Big Isaac Community Church.

Wanda spent her childhood in New Mexico and California. She met her husband in Texas and lived in Texas, Germany, New Hampshire, Japan, and Maryland as a military wife. After his retirement, the family settled in West Virginia, where they raised their family and then enjoyed grandchildren. She also worked for Dr. Audia. She enjoyed traveling back to visit relatives in New Mexico. Her final days were spent in North Carolina with her loving son Michael and his family taking care of her.

There will be a Memorial Service at Faith Baptist Church in West Union, WV on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Visitation with family will begin at 10:00am and the service will be at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Faith Baptist Church, PO Box 232 West Union, WV 26456-0232.
