A TIME TO BE BORN AND A TIME TO GROW…

Tyra DeLeise Coleman was born on August 16, 1970 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She received her education in the Warren County School system graduating from Warren Central High School in 1988.  Upon graduating from high school, Tyra enlisted in the United States Army becoming a member of the 3rd  Psychological Operations Battalion  (Airborne) ( Dissemination) of the  4th Psychological Operations Group  (Airborne)  based at Ft. Bragg,  NC.

A TIME TO SERVE AND A TIME TO BE HONORED FOR SERVICE…

Tyra served in the United States Army from 1988 until her retirement in 2010.  While serving in the Army she held every duty position including Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, Senior Print Advisor and First Sergeant.  Tyra’s military education is extensive and includes the Basic Airborne Course, the Advanced Noncommissioned Officers Course and the First Sergeants Course. While completing her assigned duties as First Sergeant, this decorated leader also completed the requirements to receive her Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology from California University of Pennsylvania in May 2009.

For her exemplary service to her country, Tyra was awarded several medals and received numerous honors and recognition throughout her career. Such decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal {3 OLC}, the Southwest Asia Medal, the Good Conduct Medal {7 OLC}, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary and Service Medals, the NCO Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Kuwait Liberation Medals for Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and the Senior Parachutist Badge.  After shutting the door to 22 years of military service, Tyra opened another becoming a successful Realtor and Broker for Coldwell Banker Advantage.

A TIME TO BE REMEMBERED…

Tyra leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Jonathan Brown; her mother, Joyce A. Coleman; her aunts, Wilma Mason, Linda Smith and Phyllis Coleman; a host of cousins, other relatives and many dedicated and loving friends to include CSM (R) Ian D. Guy.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, May 19, 2014 at Covenant Love Church, 420 Dunn Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28312.

Home Going Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Covenant Love Church with Pastor Al Brice officiating.

Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Breast Cancer Awareness, Susan G. Komen for the Cure Attn: Donor Services, PO Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.

Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
