Tsgt Melvin Roy Showalter (Retired)

TSGT Melvin Roy Showalter (Retired), 88, of Fayetteville, NC died Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Melvin was born in Floyd County, VA on January 27, 1934, son to the late Daniel Bruce Showalter and Canary Buckner Showalter.

TSGT Showalter served our country with the utmost distinction. He received the following awards and decorations during his enlistment: Air Force Outstanding Unit Award w/ 1 OLC, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal w/2 OLC, Air Force Longevity Service Award w/4 OLC, National Defense Service Medal w/1 BSS, and Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/3 OLC.

He is survived by his son, Glenn Showalter of Anchor Point, Alaska; his daughter, Penny Coppola and her husband Dean of Gaithersburg, Maryland; his granddaughter, Delaney Coppola of Dublin, Ireland; his grandson Cayden Coppola of Gaithersburg, Maryland; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Funeral Service with Military Honors will be conducted 2:00 PM Friday, May 20, 2022 at New Hope Church of God located at 3109 Camden Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28306 with Pastor Andy Johnson officiating.

A Private Burial will take place in Cumberland Memorial Gardens located at 4509 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
