Mr. Thomas Edward Sanborn, 82, passed away of natural causes Monday, August 12, 2013 in his home.
Thomas was born in Milwaukee, WI on September 17, 1930 to the late Frank and Dinna Gillis Sanborn. Thomas was the only one of three sons to survive the Korean War. He served in the Army with the 187th RCT and earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Korean Service Medal and Combat Jump Wings. Thomas was an active supporter of the Republican National Party and was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan.
He is survived by his sons, Richard E. Sanborn of Newport News, VA, Johnie L. Sanborn of Seminole, Texas, Michael Sanborn of West Virginia, Donald Sanborn of CA; step-sons, Dennis L. Jackson of Newport News, VA, Tommy L. Jackson of Poquoson, VA; daughter-in-law, Cristina A. Sanborn; grandchildren, Jack E. Sanborn, Grant W. Sanborn and Laila G. Sanborn.
All friends, family and fellow veterans are invited to attend his graveside service with Military Honors, 10:00 AM, Friday, August 23, 2013 at Sandills State Veterans Cemetery, 400 Murchison Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390 with Reverend Robert Staples officiating.
He will continue to be loved and missed by his sons. To a Proud True American, R.I.P.
