Thomas H. Hopkins was born December 9th 1934 to the union of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sim Hopkins in Culpeper, VA. At 81 years of age, he transitioned into heaven on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC; following some long time illnesses.
In Thomas early years he drove a tractor trailer and his CB handle was “Dusty Road”; until he retired sometime in 1978. He owned and ran his own moving company for some years. He also worked at the George Washington Estate in Alexandria, VA until he retired in 2005. Thomas was educated in Culpeper County Public School System. He was a person that loved to tell jokes, make you laugh; he played a guitar and sung his blues.
Proceeding in death his daughter Charlene W. Hopkins, his father and mother; Mr. and Mrs. Sim Hopkins, five siblings Alfred Hopkins (Frances), Robert E. Hopkins (Bertha), Sim F. Hopkins Sr. (Jane), Bertha M. Dinkens (Jack), Howard L. Hopkins (Betty); also five siblings of his father’s first marriage; Christina, Eldridge G., Thomas, Fannie, and Maggie.
He leaves to mourn, his loving wife Patricia A. Hopkins of 41 years of marriage; 9 children from his first wife Annie M. Banks (deceased): Thomas H. Hopkins Jr., Woodbridge, VA; James W. Hopkins (Sharon), Woodbridge, VA; Conrad M. Hopkins (Sheila), Washington, DC; Joyce A. Hopkins, Alexandria, VA; Virginia V. Hamilton (Quentin), Woodbridge, VA; Annette Hopkins, Woodbridge, VA; Antoinette Ford (Ralph, Deceased), Richmond, VA; David E. Hopkins (Patricia) Woodbridge, VA; Jean N. Love (Edward), Arlington, VA; also to mourn is 5 children from his second wife Patricia Hopkins, Shelton R. Walls-Bey, Smithfield, NC; Sammie E. Brooks (Kevin), Atlantic City, NJ; Samuel L. Jones (Antuenet), Anderson Creek, NC; Lathia P. Bland, Fredericksburg, VA; Gervan T. Hopkins, Fredericksburg, VA; survived by Mother in Law Edith M. Zeigler, Orlando, FL; 3 Brother in laws, Ronald Brisbon, Washington, DC, Vandy Brisbon, Orlando, FL, Steve Brisbon (Thomasinia), Accokeek, MD; 2 Sister in laws, Linda Turner (Greg, Deceased), Rembert, SC; Blenda Williams, Four Oaks, NC; 41 grandchildren, 83 Great grandchildren and 5 Great-Great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; and many close friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Wayland Blue Ridge Baptist Center 15044 Ryland Chapel Rd. Rixeyville, VA 22737. The family will receive friends before the service from 9:00 - 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow the service in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, 9297 Eggbornsville Rd. in Rixeyville.
