SSG Ernesto Navarro, beloved husband, father, and "Awito," passed on December 14th, 2020, at the age of 61.
He was a proud Manchu that retired as a staff sergeant from the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Regiment to spend more time raising his children with his devoted wife. He found his way back to serving by transporting veterans to their appointments for the VA. His passion extended to the love of his Puerto Rico, photography, the people that make up his community, his catholic faith. He never said no to a request, but instead would always find a way to help. He saw great beauty in this world, especially in other human beings, and captured it on camera every chance he got.
Thankful for the memories and the lessons are his wife (Alba), his children (Ernesto, Alva and her husband, David), his grandchildren (Taína and Nathaniel), his parents (Ernesto and Petra), and his siblings (Angel, Edwin, Maritza and Carlos).
On January 4th, 2020, at 11:30 AM in St Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Raeford, NC, his life will be celebrated in a funeral mass, followed by his burial with military honors at 2:00 PM in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
