SSG Benjamin ‟Ben” Michael Vanburen, 37, a beloved husband, father, son and friend to many, passed away on May 2, 2024 in Oklahoma.

Ben was born in Kansas City, KS on March 18, 1987 to his loving parents Monte Ross Vanburen and Patricia Ann Vanburen. Ben joined the US Army in 2006 and was currently on assignment at Fort Sill, OK. Ben loved the outdoors and camping, he was very involved with Scouting America and loved doing Jujitsu with his boys where ben was a Blue Belt. He loved board games, spending time with his family and volunteering with many organizations to include the USO, Cub Scouts, Battle in Distress, International Trash Day and many others. He will be greatly missed.

SSG Vanburen served with the upmost honor and received the following awards and decorations during his military career: Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (4), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (5), National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal (2), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Driver and Mechanic Badge.

SSG Vanburen’s passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Ashley Vanburen; his parents, Monte and Patricia Vanburen; his sons, Kazimierz Blake Vanburen, Savage Christopher Vanburen and Trindon Patrick Vanburen; a brother’s, Monte Ross Vanburen II and Matthew Vanburen; a sister, Katherine Marie Minard and a host of extended family members and friends.

A visitation will be held, 10:00 AM -12:00 noon Friday, May 17, 2024 at the All American Chapel, 5301 Ardennes Street, Fort Liberty, NC 28310.

Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
