Smsgt Glen Rhea Celcer (Retired)

SMSGT Glen Rhea Celcer, (Retired), passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 in his home.

Glen was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 17, 1944, son to the late Arvle Glen Celcer and Bonnie Elizabeth Shull Celcer. Glen joined the US Air Force in 1964 and retired after 27 years of service in 1991. He enjoyed a distinguished career serving in a multitude of positions both in the US and abroad.

SMSGT Celcer served with the utmost distinction and received the following awards in the military: Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with 1OLC, AF Achievement Medal with 1OLC, AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor and 1OLC, Meritorious Unit Commendation, AF Good Conduct Medal with one silver and 2 Bronze OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3OLC, AF Overseas Ribbon-Long with 1OLC, AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon with one Silver OLC, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon with 1OLC, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

In 1990 he came to an event at Pope Airfield and fell in love with Fayetteville and moved with his family to Fayetteville in 1991 after his retirement. Glen loved working on Airplanes and was a mechanic for the US Army Golden Knights for many years. For that honor, he was distinguishly Knighted by the US Army Golden Knights. Glen also loved Nascar and his family and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Celcer of the home; sons, Gary Celcer of Ocala, FL, Ryan Celcer of Fayetteville, NC and Chad Celcer and wife Elesha of Sanford, NC; a brother, Charles Celcer of Oklahoma; sisters, Gayle Celcer and Treva Kay Gage, both of Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Glen Celcer, Chad “CJ” Celcer Jr., and Henry Celcer. He is also survived by his brother-n-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of other extended family members and friends.

A Service to celebrate the life of SMSGT Celcer will be held 1:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2021 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Entombment will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, 4509 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304 with AF Chaplain officiating.
