Sfc Justin Lowell Goff

SFC Justin Lowell Goff, 29, was an out-of- training student assigned to Company A, Support Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina.  SFC Goff was born in Ruskin, Florida on July 12, 1989.

SFC Goff enlisted in the Army in August 2007. His initial training took place at the 5th Squadron, 15th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Benning, Georgia. His next assignment was with the 73rd Armored Regiment Headquarters, with an assignment to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Target Acquisition Squad. Follow-on assignments were with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. SFC Goff was then assigned to the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School’s 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne) and his last assignment was with Support Battalion, 1st SWTG(A).

SFC Goff deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Afghanistan. His civilian education includes an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Fayetteville Technical Community College.

His military education includes Airborne School, Basic Leader Course, Sniper Course, Advanced Search Course, the Ranger Course, Combatives Level 1, Advanced Leaders Course, Jumpmaster Course, Master Resilience Training, Military Free-Fall Parachutist Course, Air Assault School, Pathfinder Course, Special Forces Orientation Course, the Special Forces Foreign Weapons Course and the Senior Leaders Course.

His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon with three oak leaf clusters, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 3, NATO Medal with two bronze service Stars, Ranger Tab, Combat Action Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Free-Fall Parachutist Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

SFC Goff was Posthumously awarded a Meritorious Service Medal.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Alvarez; their children, Sydney O. Goff, Savannah O. Goff and Jameson L. Goff; his mother Melinda D. Klein, father Robert Klein and his brother Jonathan D. Goff.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 29, 2019 at the JFK Memorial Chapel, Building D-3116, Ardennes and Zabitosky Streets, Fort Bragg, NC 28310 with Chaplain (CPT) Cory Reeder officiating.

Burial will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
