Sfc Gerald Eugene Saunders (Retired)

SFC Gerald Eugene Saunders (Retired), 86, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 in FirstHealth Hoke Hospital.

Gerald was born in Cabarrus County, NC on July 27, 1935, son to the late Frederick and Cora Josey Saunders.

SFC Saunders served and retired from the US Army and deployed on many tours while in service to include Vietnam. After retirement, he became a Mechanic, loved working on cars and always owned a Chevy. Gerald loved animals, fishing, was an avid Nascar and Carolina Panthers Fan. He will be greatly missed.
Gerald was proceeded in death by his parents, 2 sons, William Saunders and Michael Saunders.

He is survived by his children, Linda Saunders and husband Robert Smith of Fayetteville, Sharon Gaskins of Fayetteville; a son, Fredrick Saunders of Fayetteville; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Graveside Services with Full Military Honors will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 in Sandhills State Veteran's Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC 28310 with Chaplain (CPT) Daniel David Steiner officiating.
