SFC Armando Arteagaharo passed away Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Germany.

SFC Arteagaharo was born in Mexico on August 24, 1968 to David H. Ateaga and Maria Luisa Haro.

He was assigned to the 173d BSB, Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany.

Armando was a father for 18 years, a soldier for 26 years and a great man his entire life. He always wore a smile on his face. He was admired and loved by everyone and he touched lives of people all around the world. He will be greatly missed by family and friends in the United States and around the World. His mother preceded him in death.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), Army Commendation Medal (9OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (8th), National Defense Service Medal (III), Korean Service Medal, South West Asia Service (3 OLC), Afghanistan Service Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal (4), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon (1OLC), Overseas Service Ribbon (1OLC), United Nation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Combat Action Badge, Parachutist Badge.

He is survived by his son, Andrew Arteagaharo of Supply, NC; his fiancé, Shirley Lagat and their dog Honey Bun of Chesterfield, VA; a cousin, Leticia Camacho of Carson, CA; brothers, Mariano Arteaga, David Arteaga, Eric Arteaga and Isidro Arteaga, all of California, his extended families, the Hardin family of Robeson County, NC, the Sanchez family of Hope Mills, NC and the Weston family of Supply, NC;

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, December 5, 2013 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304. Funeral Service will begin at 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Chaplain (CPT) Adam Tietje officiating.

Burial with Full Military Honors will be 10:00 AM Friday, December 6, 2013 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 400 Murchison Rd., Spring Lake, NC 28390.
