Sfc Angel Alfredo Rivera Jr.

Sergeant First Class Angel A. Rivera, 38, of Fayetteville, N.C. passed away September 25, 2012 in his home.

SFC Rivera was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, Fort Bragg, N.C., and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and a number of other deployments.
Rivera’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with four stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Meal, Humanitarian Service Meal, Overseas Service Ribbon, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Medal, Parachutist Badge, and Special Force Tab.

Surviving Sergeant First Class Rivera are his wife, Alicia Rivera, of Chicago; son, Angel A. Rivera III of Fayetteville; daughter, Isabel Rivera of Fayetteville; daughter, Ynez Rivera of Chicago; step daughters Jasmine Delgado and Desiree Escobar of Chicago; , his mother -in-law, Eida Rivera that was his only true Mother.

A Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday October 4, 2012 at JFK Chapel, Fort Bragg NC with Chaplain (CAPT) Gerald Onuoha officiating.

Visitation will follow the service at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
