Retired CWO4 Scot Wayne “Chief” Sturzebecker passed away Friday, December 7, 2012 at the age of 58.
CWO4 Sturzebecker was born in Arlington, VA on November 9, 1954 to Samuel and Larene Marlowe Sturzebecker. Scot as everyone refers to him as “Chief” began his military career in 1976 when he joined the Navy. He served six years in the Navy and then joined the US Army. He retired in 2005 after 29 years of Military service. Chief raised his children as a single parent from the time they were 3 and 1 year’s old. He was an avid hunter and very active in the community which included Adult Illiteracy. Preceding Chief in death are his father, Samuel Sturzebecker, his step-father, Bill Kithcart and a brother, Jan Sturzebecker. Chief was an eternally loving father, grandfather and Honorable Soldier. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are a son, Eric Scot Sturzebecker of Fayetteville; a daughter, Tami Lee Riutort and her husband Mark of Fayetteville; his mother, Larene Kithcart of Seattle WA; a brother, Sam; sisters, Lindajoy of New Jersey, Dale of Tennessee, Marggie of Texas and Larene of Florida; grandchildren, Ciara Lee Aumend and Alexis Ivy Riutort, both of Fayetteville.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Saturday December 15, 2012 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road Fayetteville, NC 28304 with Pastor Dan Stanley officiating.
Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
