Rosalie Bernadine Francique

September 20, 1930 — January 30, 2020

Fayetteville

Ms. Rosalie Bernadine Francique was born September 20, 1930 in La Digue St. Andrews, Grenada, West Indies. She was one of five children born to Thimoteous Francique and Louisa William. As a young girl, Mr. Rosalie loved to run and walk all over her beloved Grenada. Ms. Rosalie always wore a big smile, but her heart was much bigger. She had a love for reading, needle work and sewing. After graduating high school, Ms. Rosalie had an opportunity to study nursing in England. However, she turned it down to remain in Grenada to raise her two young children, Denise and Samuel. Ms. Rosalie worked as a teacher’s assistant in an elementary school in Grenada while rearing her two sons and five daughters. She later went to work for Governor General Scoon and St. George’s General Hospital. Ms. Rosalie would later migrate to the United States around 2000, joining her daughters Therese, Joyce and Agnes. Ms. Rosalie was raised in a Christian home and confirmed in the Roman Catholic Church during her teenage years. She was a devoted Catholic and a praying woman, who loved and trusted God. Ms. Rosalie was a member of the rosary club and the quilting guild at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Fayetteville, NC, where she spent countless hours praying and making quilts for the needy. She shared God’s love with everyone she met. She walked and talked with God daily. Ms. Rosalie taught her family the same, encouraging them to pray always and trust God. She taught her children how to love others, give and not look for anything in return. “Just trust God,” she said. She regularly greeted people with “Peace.” She was easy going and patient. Ms. Rosalie would feed and clothe the entire neighborhood if she could. Her last words to her daughter Agnes was, “Tell everyone I love them.” Celebrating Rosalie’s life and loving legacy are her seven children, Theresa Denise Francique; Samuel Francique; Kathleen Therese Francique; Alexander (Ingrid) Francique; Joyce Francique; Agnes Guoan; and Choyling (Renol) Daniels; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
