Robert Lynn Hamilton

On Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, Robert Lynn Hamilton, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 76 after a brief illness. He died in Firsthealth Moore Regional Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

Robert was born in Durham, NC, son to the late Willis Hamilton Sr. and Allene Hornaday Hamilton. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Porter, a son, John Porter, 3 brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 1 nephew, 1 great nephew and his father and mother-in-law, OW Evans and Hazel Evans.

Robert graduated from Methodist College and served in the US Navy as a Radio Intelligence Seaman during the Vietnam War. He later worked and retired from IBM in Production Control. They settled after retirement in Aberdeen to play golf as he was an avid sports fan, especially Duke Basketball. Instead of Golf, he co-managed a Toy Store for over 20 years in Southern Pines earning the name Choo Choo Bob. He was a dedicated member of Paige Memorial United Methodist church, a Sunday School Teacher and Lay Minister. He served on the Board of Trustees with the Church and Volunteered with Martha’s Place. He will be sorely missed by his family, church family and all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hamilton of the home; a son, Thomas Hamilton of the home; a brother, Marty Hamilton; nieces, Robyn Storch and husband Dr. Sam Storch, Kim Vanderbuilt Freid and husband Arthur, Susan Hamilton and Janet Hamilton; nephews, Robert Dawson, Kirk Hamilton-Kimber, David Hamilton, Bradley Hamilton and Chris Hamilton; many great nieces, nephews and many surrogate grandchildren.

Funeral Services with be at a date to be determined.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paige Memorial United Methodist Church Food Pantry, 115 W. Main Street, Aberdeen, NC 28315.
