Retired SSG Artis Ray Williams, 64, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in Womack Army Medical Center.
Artis was born in Bogalusa, LA. He entered the US Army out of High School and retired in 1997. After the Army he was a bus driver for Cumberland County Schools. Artis loved fishing, bowling, doing yard work, but most of all he was a family man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Williams of Fayetteville; 4 sons, Kenneth Ray Williams, Christopher Todd Williams and Joshua Lee Williams, all of Fayetteville, Marlo Baldwin of Durham; a daughter, Melissa Williams of Fayetteville; 3 grandchildren, Noland Daniels, Tyrese Williams and Oriana Williams; his mother, Geraldine Williams of Bogalusa, LA; 2 brothers, Gary Williams of Spokane, WA and Lonnie Williams of Bogalusa, LA; sisters, Yolanda Colston and Sylvia Taylor, both of Oakland, CA; Gloria Gordon of Los Angeles, CA; Debra Young of New Orleans, LA, Dionne Michelle Williams of Louisiana and Mary Beatrice Brown of California.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with Pastor James Fields Jr. officiating.
