Retired CW4 Al Jackson of Fayetteville died Friday, April 4, 2014 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center at the age of 86.
Mr. Jackson was born in Greensboro on October 6, 1927 to the late Henry William Jackson and Julia Apple Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographer and retired as a CW4. Mr. Jackson was a member of Arran Lake Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Eunice Jones Jackson.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his son Stephen W. Jackson and his wife, Joanne S. Douglas, DVM of Forest, VA; his daughter, Dolores Anne Jackson of Greensboro; his sisters, Betty Monaco of Clearwater, FL, Doris Gray of Asheville; three grandchildren, Ben Woolfenden of Greensboro, Emily D. Jackson and Alex D. Jackson, both of Forest, VA.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Road, Fayetteville, NC.
Mr. Jackson will be inurned beside his wife at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
