Retired Chaplain (MAJ) Pastor Raymond J. Wade Jr., 75, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013 in Highsmith Rainey Memorial Hospital.

Pastor Wade was born in San Jose, CA. on February 1, 1938 to the late Raymond J. Sr. and Lillian Ross Wade. He served 2 tours in Vietnam with the US Army and retired as a Chaplain (MAJ) in 1983. He served as Pastor of Parkton Baptist Church in Parkton, NC until he retired in early 2013. He also served as an interim Pastor with Springhill Baptist Church in Wagram, NC, Green Springs Baptist Church in Parkton, NC and also served as the Chaplain at the Sandhills Youth Center with the NC Department of Corrections. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to everyone he came in contact with.

Surviving pastor Wade is his loving wife, Martha Wade of the home; Sons, Mark Wade of Dexter, Michigan, Jeffrey Wade and his wife Jessica of Parkton, NC ; daughters, Patricia Hessler and her husband Chip of Hope Mills, NC , and Sarah Champagne and her husband Alfie of Parkton, NC ;
13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 Sunday, June 23, 2013 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

A celebration of life for Pastor Wade will be held 12:00 noon Monday, June 24, 2013 in the sanctuary of the Parkton Baptist Church, 108 E. David Parnell St. Parkton, NC 28371 with the Reverend Archie Barringer and Dr. Ralph Richardson officiating.

Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, NC.
