Mrs Nelly Gomez Diaz, 82, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Nelly was born in Peru on July 24, 1935 to the late Arnobio Gomez and Eleanor Diaz. She was a homemaker and loved her family very much. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Lessi Ayarza.

She is survived by her husband, Carlos Rodriguez Sanchez of the home; daughters, Lita Rodriguez of Peru, Pilar Rodriguez and Maria Rodriguez, both of Fayetteville; sons, Roosevelt Ayarza, Edgar Ayarza, Oswald Ayarza, Roman Ayarza and Marina Ararza, all of Peru; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family members.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 and 10:00 and 12:30 PM, Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at LaFayette Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 1:00 PM Wednesday at LaFayette Memorial Park West.
