SSG. (Ret.) Nathan Ray Speck, 35, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
Nathan loved spending time with his children. He graduated from Findlay High School in 2000. He enlisted in the US Army in 2006 and on May 28, 2007, Nathan hit an I.E.D. while serving in Iraq and was awarded the Purple Heart. After 10 years of service to his country, he retired with an honorable discharge as Staff Sargent. He was a volunteer with Operation Tattooing Freedom and was also an adaptive athlete with Operation Enduring Warrior. Nathan loved helping the Veteran community and spreading awareness for PTSD. Nathan was the epitome of a soldier with his loyalty to the Army and soldiers he served with.
SSG. Speck is survived by his Son; Alexander Speck, Daughter; Autumn Speck, Step-Children; Uriah and Loreli Nutt, Fiance; Jennifer Garland, Mother; Julie Losoya Harthi, and former Wife; Heather Speck.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 5, 2017 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at LaFayette Funeral Home. Friends and family may visit on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Hufford Family Funeral Home , 1500 Manor Hill Rd, Findlay, OH (419-422-1500). A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the conclusion of visitation with Pastor Mike Nartker officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with the Hancock County Veteran’s Memorial Squad performing full military honors. Memorial contributions are suggested for the benefit of his children, in care of Heather Speck.
