Mrs. Murita A. Ward, 53, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014 in UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Daughter of the late Wilbert W. Wilson Sr. and Thelma Richardson Pryce was born on April 1, 1961, in Pocomoke, Maryland.  She departed this life on November 30, 2014 at UNC Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Our beloved Rita always greeted everyone with open arms and her beautiful smile. She was a natural leader with a take charge attitude. She was always willing to lend a hand. She was a servant of God as a member of Spring Lake Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC lead by Reverend John McKoy Jr. God used her life to share his love and show the meaning of grace.  She served in the US Army as an Auto Data Telecommunications Sergeant from 1979 until 1987, also as a purchasing officer at School Tools, Inc. for 20 years, a public relations director for
Motions Model Management for 10 years, and was an entrepreneur of Dela Jourere.

Rita is survived by her husband, Reginald Ward; daughter, Renee Jessup; grandson, Cameron Jessup, of Fayetteville, NC; two sisters, Linda Harmon of Pocomoke, MD; Ardella Holland of Tampa, FL; two brothers, Thomas Wilson Sr. (Merlyn) of Jacksonville, NC and Wilbert Wilson Jr. (Tammy) of Salisbury, MD; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, her sister, Thelma Olumese, preceded her in death.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Sunday, December 7, 2014 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, December 8, 2014 at Spring Lake Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 458 Chapel Hill Rd, Spring Lake, NC 28390 with Reverend John McKoy Jr. officiating.
