Master Sergeant (Retired) Edward Gillet (Ed) Brodey Jr. passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 in his home.
Edward Gillet Brodey Jr. was born in Lewes, Delaware on 7 January 1947 to Evelyn Mae (Russell) and Edward Gillet Brodey.
He attended Georgetown High School and in his senior year, at the age of 17, he joined the Delaware National Guard as a 13A Air Defense Artillery and served in the National Guard with the 198th ADA in Georgetown, Delaware.
He joined the U.S. Army on 14 June 1965 and attended basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He was a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served our county.
MSG Brodey is preceded in death by his father, Edward Gillet Brodey Sr. and a sister, Bonnie Cox.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda F. Brodey of Raeford; his children, Dwayne Brodey of Charlotte, NC, Duke Gordon of Leland, NC, Lisa Brodey Bartley of Killeen, TX and Catrina Nakamoto of Holly Springs, NC; his mother, Evelyn Mae Brodey of Seaford, DE; a brother, Barry Baker of Florida; grandchildren, Jordan Brodey, Claudia Bartley, Kaylee Taylor and Daniel Nakamoto.
A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Chapel, Building #D-3116, Corner of Ardennes and Zabitosky Streets, Ft. Bragg, NC 28310 with LTC (Ret) Steve Aude officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the JFK Museum, 100 Bragg Blvd Fayetteville, NC 28301 or to the Raeford United Methodist Church, 308 North Main Street Raeford, NC 28376.
