Miriam Kaleihiwa (Kaimikaua) Choy

This is a celebration of Miriam K. Choy born in Hoolehua Molokai HI in 1931. She has 4 sisters and 4 brothers. Mom was the oldest and took care of her siblings and God gave her the gift to care for people. She was a Tomboy having to work on the farm tending to animals and she played sports and was very strong willed.  She was an independent person and, also worked in the pineapple fields, taught and danced the Hawaiian Hulu and with the lovely voice she had, would sing to help support herself. She lived a very hard life but that did not stop her from trying to make a better lifer for herself and her future family. When she met my father, he was in the Army and their journey together to make a better life for themselves and their future family was an amazing ride. There was never anything she could not do or try to do and always going out of the way to help others. Mom always saw the good in people and had a Loving, Infectious, Contagious, spirit with a funny but wonderful sense of humor. She was raised on a farm and loved all animals but there was a special place in her heart for her dogs.

Mom was an amazing Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law, Tutu, and great Tutu that really loved her family so much and loved being around them. Mom would always tell us to love one another and be there for each other because family is all you have in life. Mom you did a great job raising five children and being a dedicated wife to Dad for 67 years. She would love to spoil her 6 grand & 8 great grandchildren when they would come and visit. She would always pack them a care package to take home with them and they always looked forwarded to it. Her family was her LIFE and she ALWAYS reminded us to love each other and forgive.

Mom was always protective of her family and when she made friends, they were blessed to experience the BIG Hawaiian heart she had when she loved you. Her unconditional love for people made her a very special person and you wanted to be around her. God anointed her with those gifts to touch people.

Mom, what a great legacy and blueprint you leave behind for us to follow. You are the matriarch and Queen of our Ohana family. May your spirit from Heaven keep shinning down on your Ohana Family today and every day until we meet you in Heaven. Mahalo Mom, Tutu
