On Saturday, September 5th 2020, LTC Michael Levesque, (Retired), loving husband and father of two children, passed away at the age of 64 after a long battle with illness. He died at his home in Raeford, surrounded by his wife, Shirley Levesque, and his two children.
Michael was born in August 1956 in Boston. He grew up in Portsmouth, Rhode Island with his parents, Donald Levesque and Sophia Biszko Levesque and sisters Mary and Jacqueline. He enlisted in the US Army in 1979 and studied at the University of Rhode Island from 1981 through 1985, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Michael served 26 years in the US Army, retiring in 2006 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from Fort Drum, New York. He served as a civilian in the US Army Fort Drum Maintenance Division from 2006-2016. Michael proudly graduated Airborne School and spent four years in the 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Some of his happiest service memories were being Airborne.
Michael was known for his sense of humor and genuine personality. Anyone who met him remembers him telling at least one bad dad joke, which had them laughing for ages. He was versatile with his ability to build and fix anything around the house. He was an avid music lover. Watching concerts with Shirley was a favorite way to spend time. He was compassionate, known for his laugh and smile and his pure heart. He was truly the sunshine of Shirley's life.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and his mother, Sophia, and his sister, Mary. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, his two children, Alexander and Elizabeth, his step-son, Richard, his sister Jacqueline, and several cousins and nieces.

Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2020 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services with Military Honors will begin at 2:00 PM following the Visitation with Matt Allen officiating.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
