It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of MSG Michael Carson (US Army, Retired), at the age of 71, on March 12, 2024. Born on April 3, 1952, in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was a cherished son to his late parents, George Carson and Margaret Suber. Michael's remarkable journey began when he enlisted in the US Army on March 24, 1972. His more than twenty years of dedicated service were marked by distinction, honor, and a commitment to excellence, culminating in his retirement on August 31, 1992.

Throughout his distinguished career, MSG Carson was awarded numerous honors in recognition of his bravery, leadership, and service, including:

He was a foundational pillar of love, strength, and wisdom for his family.

Michael's legacy is survived by his son, Michael Thomas Carson (Nina); daughters, Margit Charlotte Howard (Nathan), Marsha Elizabeth Carson, and Michelle Jennifer Nadine Carson-Tajman (Shari); and his adored grandchildren and great grandchildren, Elaina Hyman, Casius Carson, Mishka Maholtra, Antoine Griffin II, Asante Griffin, Nathan Howard Jr., Nadine Howard, Melody Carson, Curtis Worthy III, Jacob Carson, Indee Ray, and Alexander Velazquez; great grandchildren, Zaiden Johnson, Trevon Johnson, Nadiyah Johnson, Jamari Johnson, Journee Worthy, Janelle, Janessa Naomi, Shaundre and Eilah Hyman; alongside many extended family members and friends.

Michael's life was a testament to love's enduring power, in a life adorned with numerous accomplishments, Mr. Carson's most extraordinary achievement lies in the family he lovingly nurtured. His journey took him across the globe, where fate intertwined him with his beloved ex-wife, Monika Carson, laying the foundation for a family of six. A true patriarch, Mr. Carson leaves behind a legacy epitomized by a verse from Corinthians: "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." It is this eternal love that will continue to guide and unite his family, echoing his presence and the profound impact he made on their lives and beyond.

Final Honors:

A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will honor MSG Carson's memory at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Liberty, NC 28310.
