LTC Paul Vincent Jacobson, 56, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 in his home.

Paul was born in Chesterfield England on December 28, 1961 to Thomas Matthew Alsop and Rita June Alsop. He moved with his mother to the United States at 16 years of age and was adopted by Eric Paul Jacobson at age 18. His adopted father, Eric Paul Jacobson preceded him in death.

His awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, 4, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, 2, Army Commendation Medal, 2, Army Achievement Medal, 5, Army Good Conduct Medal, 4, National Defense Service Medal, 4, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, 3, Iraq Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, 5, Armed Forces Reserve Medal w/M Device, NATO Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Basic Aviation Badge and Overseas Service Bar, 3.

After achieving the rank of MSG, he received his commission as a PA in 1995. Since then, he completed 7 combat deployments; Three to Bosnia, two to Kuwait, one to Cuba and two to Iraq. He served in many different roles from Aero Medical Physician’s Assistant to senior FORSCOM PA. After serving 37 years in the Army, he was awarded the Legion of Merit for meritorious service in positions of increased responsibility, culminating as a surgeon assigned to Womak Army Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Jacobson of the home; his mother, Rita June Jacobson of Florida; 5 sons, Matthew Jacobson and wife Siew of Florida, Adam Jacobson and wife Nicole of Ft. Bragg, Richard Jacobson of Sanford, Charles Smith and wife Brandie of Hinesville, GA and Tony Biscuit Smith of Sanford; a daughter, Dannyel Smith and husband Demetrius Robinson of Savannah, GA; brothers, Neil Jacobson of Kansas, Christopher Jacobson and John Jacobson, both of Michigan, Wayne Alsop of England; a sister, Debbie Alsop of England; 6 grandchildren, Caelan, Sage, Cambria, Nadia, Aiden, Leon and a host of family and friends.

The family will receive friends between the hours of 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Main Post Chapel, Bldg 1-1510 Sedgewick and Jackson St. Fort Bragg, NC 28310.

Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM with Chaplain (Capt) Linda Murtala officiating.
