James "Jim" Terry Van Sise, 69, of Fayetteville, passed away 23 September at Cape Fear Valley. He was born in Huntington, New York on 19 March 1952, a son of the late William and Ellen Van Sise.
He is preceded in death by his parents William Van Sise and Ellen Boyle Van Sise, sister Joan Van Sise, brother William "Bubba" Van Sise and a son William "Billy" Terry Van Sise.
Jim was an Army veteran which is what brought him to Fayetteville from New York. After his 2 years in the Army, he went to Fayetteville Tech with his GI Bill. He was a wiz with numbers. He managed multiple restaurants (Waffle House). His dream was to open his own restaurant which he did in the 80's called Seafood Heaven. He delivered for the Fayetteville Observer for many years and lastly worked for Dominoes.
He was a loving husband, father and Pop Pop. No one could compete with his spaghetti sauce and he liked his meat rare. Anymore than 30 seconds on each side to take away the chill and it was over cooked. He was very funny and always had a good story or joke to tell. Every summer he would take the grand kids to the beach for the day and every fall he would take them to the Fair. Jim would be Santa for the grand kids for Christmas.
Jim was a caring person and would give you the shirt off his back. He was an extremely hard worker sometimes working two jobs to provide for his family. He would do anything he could to help anyone without hesitation.
Jim is survived by his wife of 38 years Darlene, daughters, Ellen, Kim, Sherri and Susan (Wayne, her husband), sons, Jay and Alex ( daughter-in-law Debbie), He was known as Pop Pop to his 16 grand kids and 12 great grandchildren many relatives in Ireland. Jim is loved by many and will be missed dearly.
