James Roszelle Horney, 56, beloved husband and father, was called to his eternal resting place on April 17, 2020. He entered this world on April 17, 1964 in Easton, MD, born to James (Sonny) and Patricia (Pat) Horney.
Jim was a free-spirited, fearless, adventurous man with a huge and generous heart. He was fiercely protective of those he loved and would also go out of his way to help a stranger. He loved the arts. Music was his life and he played a mean guitar! He also did beautiful sketches and enjoyed visiting art museums. One of his best characteristics though was his laugh. You couldn't help but to laugh with him, even if you didn't find what cracked him up to be amusing. His lust for life and sense of humor were contagious, as was the joy he could find in even the small things. When he met his wife he promised there would be dancing, and he kept that promise. It didn't matter where it was, in the living room or even in a store aisle if a good song came on. What some people don't know about him was how very intelligent he was. He kept it hidden behind his down-to-earth and carefree ways. He attended college late in life, receiving high marks, and was passionate about helping those struggling with addiction. As an Addiction Counselor he was compassionate, kind, and showed no judgement. He was a blessing and will be deeply missed.
Crying is natural when losing someone as special as Jim, but afterward hug a loved one, toast a friend, laugh at a silly joke, dance, sing, play music. That's what he would want. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine LaMarche-Horney, son James Branden Horney, stepson Patrick Dillon, sister Linda Gooch, brother Billy Horney, and many other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date.
