Jah-Khoy Ashante Kwame Monsanto, 26, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away on September 27, 2024 in Newark, New Jersey.
Son, grandson, big brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to many, JahKhoy Asante’ Kwame’ Monsanto was loved by his family and friends. JahKhoy was the first of six boys to his mother Valencia Charles and the second but first and only son to his father Vance Monsanto Jr., better known as Kareem. JahKhoy Came into to our lives on October 31, 1997, at the R.L.S. Hospital on the beautiful island of St. Thomas United States Virgin Islands.
In his early school years, JahKhoy attended the Human service Head start at the Paul M Pearson Garden preschool and forwarded his elementary school years at the Antonio Jarvis Elementary School and the M. J Kirwan Terrace Elementary School. After completing the 6th grade, JahKhoy was promoted to 7th grade at Addeltia Cancryn Jr. High school and attended the 8th grade at Bertha Boschulte Jr. High School. Within these years, JahKhoy gained a passion for the love of fixing cars with his grandfather Pampo. JahKhoy attended Ivanna Eudora Kean high school briefly, after he attended the Oneonta Job Corps to study the trade of auto mechanic. He then returned to St. Thomas USVI where he worked at Kmart and various fast-food chains such as McDonalds and Wendy’s in The Virgin Islands and Taco Bell in Hinesville Ga while spending time with his Aunt Verna Monsanto. JahKhoy moved back to New Jersey where he resided until his untimely passing on September 27, 2024.
JahKhoy wasn’t perfect but who is? He was not; However, I am happy to say he was perfectly himself. He was A Son, Grandson, big brother, cousin, and a friend and for that we are forever grateful that he was a part of our lives.
JahKhoy is preceded in death by his uncle’s Vershawn “PJ” Monsanto, Kintay, and Amiyah Charles. May they continue to sleep in peace.
Along with his parents and step father, Jacob Lake, he is survived by grandfather Michael Charles; grandmothers Joycelyn Monsanto and Julie Burton; step grandmother Sylvia Charles; brothers Vashawn, Elijah and Jeavon McCoy, Noah and Noel Lake; sisters Kianna and Kiniqua Monsanto; uncles Tyron, Marlon, Kevin, Victor and Biton Charles, Jason Darroux, Joneal and Jesus Francis, Vern, Vince, Claudell, and Timothy Monsanto; aunts Shorna, Hannah,Shanika Charles, Patsy Pinard, Joycelyn Frank, Verna, Venise, Vernice Monsanto, Vinell Monsanto Jackson, and Tiffany (Elaine) Clause; special cousins Kasim Upchurch, Kaleem Moolenaar, Kiethra Evans, J’nelia, Amisha, Kahiyla, Kadaziah, Tae’Nia, Madison, Leonae, Kamoy, Keandre, Tyron Jr, Tyler, Myles, Malachi, Jashun, Kevonti’, J’Heem, Yohanna, Kaiyou Charles, Malia, Malachi, and Mason Pinard, Nikai St.Louis, L’Shaun Fredericks and Kamarii Austin; special friend Regina Mickens; and a host of extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 -3:00 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM following the visitation.
