Jack Mclean, Jr.

Jack McLean Jr. was born May 30, 1945 in Robeson County,  North Carolina to sharecroppers Louise McLaughlin (d. 1974) and Anderson Jack McLean Sr. (d. 1983). In 1965 at the age of 20, on his own terms, he joined the United States Army to avoid being drafted. During 27 years of dedication in service to his country he became a World-Wide traveler and a man of many talents. He advanced to the highest levels in the enlisted field within the Army performing in several senior roles supervising and training hundreds of junior personnel all while developing a skillset in Electronic Maintenance.

After departing active duty in 1992 he enrolled at Fayetteville Technical Community College where he received diplomas in Industrial Mechanics and Electrical Installation and Maintenance. Skillsets he would gainfully utilize during his 18 years of employment at Eaton Corporation until his second and final retirement from the workforce in 2012.

Other than his parents proceeding him in death is his wife of 38 years, Virginia Lee McLean (d. 2006), two brothers – William C. McLean (d. 1993), Lacy McLean (d.1997), a sister – Ida Pearl McLean (d. 2001), a grandson – Spc. Tyrice E. Weaver (d. 2015), and son-in-law – Anthony A. Monroe (d. 2004)

Jack is survived by his children – Vicky L. McLean (Joseph Morrison) of Stafford, VA., Sharon L. McLean of Fayetteville, NC., and Jack N. McLean (Corey Boney) of Washington, DC. Three brothers – James C. McLean (Gloria) of High Point, NC., Darrell McLean (Debbie) of Whitsett, NC., Robert McLean Stanley (Shirley) of Maxton, NC. Two sisters – Patricia McLean Townsend of Laurinburg, NC., and LaQuane McLean of High Point, NC. Jack has 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A visitation will be held at LaFayette Funeral Home, Friday, February 5, 2021 from 9 AM-11 AM. Military honors will be held following the visitation at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 PM.
