SFC Frank James Hargrove, Jr., (Retired), 71, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2020 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Frank was born in Warren County, NC on December 16, 1948 to the late Frank Sr. and Alice Ruth Drumge Hargrove. He joined the US Army in 1970 serving several tours of duty overseas before retiring in 1991.
SFC Hargrove received the following Awards and Decorations: Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, 2nd Award, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Good Conduct Medal (6), Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, 1 OLC, Meritorious Service Medal, 1 OLC, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Marksmanship Badge Rifle, Expert Marksmanship Badge Grenade Launcher.
SFC Hargrove was married for 48 wonderful years to Suk Cha Hargrove and were members of the Korean Baptist Church. He is a true American Hero who will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Suk Cha Hargrove of the home; 2 brothers, John Henry Hargrove and Nelson D. Hargrove, both of Henderson, NC; sisters, Almennta Kennedy of Washington, DC and Mary Field of Boston, MA.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Monday, March 16, 2020, at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the Korean Baptist Church, 6873 Cliffdale Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28314 with Pastor Stanley Hyon officiating.
Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at 12:00 Noon in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
