Mr. Forest Ray Monk, 59, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2013 in Cape Fear Valley Hospital.

Mr. Forest was born on March 7, 1954 to the late Atkin and Berethea Strickland Monk. Mr. Forest was an extraordinary person who loved to entertain with his family and friends. Mr. Forest Ray Monk attended schools in the Sampson County Schools System and went on to expand his educational endeavors at the University Of North Carolina Agriculture Technical State University which is referred to as North Carolina A&T (Aggie Pride). After completion of his college education he moved to Spring Valley, New York and worked for Rockland Psychiatric Center until 2003. While working and living in Spring Valley, NY he met the love of his life Ms. Jacqueline Monk. Along with parents he is preceded in death by six brothers and seven sisters.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Jacqueline B. Monk of Fayetteville; three sons, Ray Monk, Roddy Monk and Timothy Monk all of Fayetteville; 2 daughter-in-laws, Kisha Monk of Fayetteville and Shauna Bethea of Raeford, four grandchildren, Mikiah, Jamiya, Amaie and Danica; brothers, James Monk, Donnie Monk, Bobby Monk, Lacel Monk and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Visitation will be 10:30 am -12:30 pm Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

Funeral Services will be 12:30 pm Tuesday, August 20, 2013 following the visitation at the Funeral Home with Pastor Garland Mayes officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 400 Murchison Rd. Spring Lake, NC 28390.
