Mr. Eugene Locklear, 76, of 219 Buffalo Dr. Maxton, NC passed away Monday, September 11, 2017 in Carolina’s Medical Center in Charlotte, NC.
Eugene was born in Robeson County on June 19, 1941 to the late Lero Locklear and Delessie Locklear. Eugene was an active member of the 1960 class committee of Pembroke High School. Members include Holland Locklear, Monnie Sanderson, Jerry C. Oxendine, Eunice Oxendine, Jackie Oxendine, Willie Moe Wilkins, Macie Woodell, Judy Lowery, Bobby Jacobs, Billy Gaham and surviving class mates. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Locklear and his daughter, Tonya Lynn Locklear, 2 brothers, Harvey Lee Locklear, Terry Wayne Locklear and 1 sister, Betty Faye Sampson.
He is survived by his son Michael Eugene Locklear of the home; two sisters, Shelby J. Locklear of Pembroke and Carmellar Locklear (Joseph) of Lumberton; a brother, Zetto Locklear (Bonnie) of Pembroke; a special friend, Maxine Jones of Fayetteville; a special care giver, Ivy Oxendine; his business partner who is like a son, Kevin Metcalf and his wife Melissa; and a former housekeeper who became like a mother, Ms. Genesis Paul and many extended family members.
Visitation will be 1:00-3:00 PM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Mt. Elim Baptist Church, 921 Wilson Rd. Red Springs, NC 28377.
Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 PM following the visitation with Reverend Tony Brewington officiating.
Burial will follow in Mt. Elim Church Cemetery.
