Elmie Maud (Gordon) Moore

August 27, 1944 — August 14, 2022

Fayetteville

Elmie, “Auntie Millie” Moore was born in Hanover, Jamaica on August 27, 1944. She was daughter to the late Roland and Verona Gordon. She visited the United States for the first time in 1967 to Jacksonville, FL. On September 22, 1972 she married Lloyd Moore Sr. Their union created three wonderful children, Lloyd Moore Jr., Patricia Moore Li-A-Ping, and Alicia Moore. In 1976 she permanently moved to the United States where she resided in Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a Home Health Aid in Manhattan, NY. They remained a family unit until 1989. In 2006, she relocated to Fayetteville, NC where she made her home.

She, was a God-fearing lady, whose faith could not be wavered. She was a loving and devoted mother to her three children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, and to all who knew her. She encouraged everyone to always turn to the Lord in hard times, good times, simply put, all the time. She prayed with you and for you, asking the Lord to “keep you safe and guide you.” She was very soft hearted and caring, always with a positive outlook on life. There was no better listener than Auntie Millie. She was very understanding and compassionate. She was a natural giver and would give the very shirt off her back and the last penny in her account when she knew someone was in need. She absolutely loved reading her Bible that was comforting to her. She wrote Jesus love letters regularly that sustained their relationship, hers and Jesus. Faith was the key that opened the door to happiness for her. She wanted everyone to have faith in Jesus and have a relationship with Jesus.

Elmie, Auntie Millie, loved her family, friends and all God’s children. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a legacy of love for God, family, and righteous living. Her physical presence will be missed by all. Her spiritual presence remains among those she loves and those who love our Lord and Savior.
