Donna Lynn Montgomery

Donna Lynn Montgomery, beloved wife, mother, and Oma passed away on August 13, 2023 at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. Even during the roughest times, Donna’s snarky, strong presence shone through and was an inspiration to those around her.

She was born on January 2, 1958 in Washington D.C., spending most of her early life in Richmond, Virginia surrounded by a huge extended family. After high school and some college, Donna joined the U.S. Army and spent 7 years as an Air Traffic Controller where she met her husband, Ralph, and had three children. She spent the following decade dedicated to her children as the family travelled between military duty stations in the U.S. and Germany. The family settled in Fayetteville, NC in 2000 where Donna continued a 23 year career as a retail associate with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Outside of work, Donna loved to travel and spend time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals and baking for her family. Above all, she adored spending time with her grandchildren.

Donna joins her mother, Louise Eames Cundiff, father, Larry Alton Cundiff, and older brother Dwayne Cundiff in the next life. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ralph Montgomery, her children Katherine (Troy) Maikis, Nathaniel Montgomery, Nicholas (Kiersten) Montgomery, stepson Evan (Jessica) Brammer, her brothers Donald Cundiff and Daniel (Susan) Cundiff, her sister-in-law Billie Cundiff, several nieces and nephews, and eleven grandchildren: Alexander, Liliana, Jeremiah, Silas, Johanna, Eliah, Tobias, Abigail, Ezekiel, Titus, and Talitha.

Interment and a small military service will be at the Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, Fort Bragg, NC on August 24th at 2 pm.
