Daniel Richard Martin

Staff Sergeant Daniel Richard Martin came into this world August 30th,1990 weighing in at over 10 lbs. Perhaps an early indication he would be a big deal while he was here his short Twenty Nine years.

Staff Sergeant Martin was an incredibly humble and selfless person so it was no surprise when he decided to join the United States Army in 2009 at the age of 19. Staff Sergeant Martin knew he wanted to be a part of something bigger and serve his country and defend the freedom of all those he loved. Staff Sergeant Martin served two tours, one in Iraq the other in Afghanistan. His MOS was a fabricator however he also became a Master Marksman Instructor rewriting and teaching the new qualifications for combat marksmanship for the Army in 2018-2019, at the lightning academy in Hawaii. Staff Sergeant Martin adjusted his regimes physical training routine and improved their PT scores by over 20 points. Health and fitness were a great part of his life. Staff Sergeant Martin enjoyed working out consistently, he practiced Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu as well as taking part in scuba diving and Snow Boarding. Staff Sergeant Martin took great pride in all he did but never did it for recognition. He merely wanted to leave everywhere he went better than it was prior. Maintaining his humble ways, he never boasted about his volunteer work with the adopt a school foundation, breast cancer awareness walks or volunteering his time with retired veterans. Although there are countless achievements correlated with Daniel’s life his greatest legacy was his son Alexander Richard Martin, born April 12th,2017. Alexander was Daniel’s greatest joy. Daniel loved Alexander unconditionally, there was never a question about it. Staff Sergeant Martin served in the United States Army for ten and a half years before going home March 30th, 2020.

He is survived by his beautiful son Alexander Richard Martin and many family members and friends who love and miss him dearly. May you rest in eternal peace Staff Sergeant Martin.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.
