Carmen Iris (Velasquez) Rivera

Carmen Rivera, 82, of Hope Mills, NC died Thursday, January 19, 2023 at her home.

Carmen was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on August 05, 1940 daughter to the late Jose Velasquez and Isabel Lugo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Rivera; her son, Edwin Rivera; her daughter Iris Vega; and her brother Jose Velasquez.

Mrs. Rivera is survived by her son. Nelson Rivera (Rosie), of Staten Island, NY; her daughters Emily Taylor (Daniel), of Hope Mills, NC and Evelyn Vega (Jose), of Brooklyn, NY ; ten grandchildren, Jose, Vanessa, Eddie, Jean-Luc, Amber, Jeffery, Alisha, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Hunter; two great grandchildren, Joell and Elijah; her brother, Samuel Velasquez, of Queens, NY; her sisters, Mirta Pittore, of Hollywood, FL, Gloria Anglero, of New York, NY; and a host of extended family members and friends.

A Funeral Service will be conducted 2:00 PM on January 26, 2023 at LaFayette Funeral Home located at 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304. The service will be live streamed. Burial will follow the service at Cumberland Cemetery 2100 Bingham Dr. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
