Mr. Brandon Kelly Hicks, known to his friends as BZO, 35, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020 in his home.

Brandon was born in Durham, NC on February 12, 1985 to Ed Hicks and Mariko Mitchell Hicks. Brandon was a naturally gifted athlete with an intense competitive drive and excelled in sports playing youth baseball in Hope Mills for many years. He graduated from Jack Britt High School and also played Rec Basketball. Sports were a central part of his life, and he was a fanatically devoted Pittsburgh Steelers football fan.

He loved the beach, especially Myrtle Beach and had the biggest heart for the ones that he loved. He was extremely loyal to his family and friends. Brandon's smile and sense of humor were infectious, and he was wickedly funny with a talent for mimicking others to make them laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Ed and Rocky Hicks of Sanford; 2 brothers, Donovan Irwin and his wife Wendy, Edric “EJ” Hicks, all of Fayetteville; his Grandmother, Carolyn Hicks of Millers Creek, NC, Uncle David Hicks and wife Sherry, many cousins, nephew and nieces Dionna Irwin, Josiah Washington and London Irwin, nephews Rylan and Brayden Hicks and extended family members.

A visitation will be 1:00 – 3:00 PM Saturday, April 11, 2020 at LaFayette Funeral Home, 6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.

STATE OFFICIALS HAVE MANDATED LIMITING GATHERINGS TO NO MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE, INCLUDING FAMILY MEMBERS AND FUNERAL HOME STAFF. IN ORDER TO KEEP ALL OF OUR FAMILIES SAFE AT THIS TIME, LAFAYETTE FUNERAL HOME WILL ABIDE BY THIS MANDATE. OTHER THAN IMMEDIATE FAMILY, ONLY 10 VISITORS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING AT A TIME.
