Billy Steven Crider, "Steve", 53, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Fayetteville, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, September 23 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco, Texas. Steve lived a life full of adventure and overcame many adversities. He had a positive mindset and admirable determination. At Fayetteville Technical Community College, he earned three Associate Degree’s in Applied Science, Advertising and Graphic Design. At Everglades University he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health Administration with a Concentration in Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and was pursuing a Doctoral Degree to become a Doctor of Naturopathy and Chinese Medicine.
Steve is survived by his mother, Willa Mae Carver, of Fayetteville, NC; his father, Billy Crider, of Texas; seven brothers, Jamie Fawks, John Crider, Jacob Crider, Robert Crider, Timothy Gresham, Jesse Carver and James Carver Jr.; five sisters, Dixie Hall, Penny Shae, Stacie Mastro, Marsha Beale, and Lynn Attebery; a daughter Stephanie; his wife, Lisa Housen; several nieces and nephews; his beloved service dog "Spanky" and many extended family members and friends.
Steve had a natural gift of art talent, and was a self-taught woodworker amongst other art forms. Steve studied Wing Chun Kung Fu under his teacher and friend SiFu Brian Edwards for over 30 years. He rose amongst the ranks and became a SiFu--teacher--himself, and achieved his lifelong dream of opening his own school in Waco, Texas. Steve was very spiritual, intelligent, compassionate, kind, and touched the lives of all he met. He will be missed by many.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Cumberland Memorial Gardens located at 4509 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
