Mr. Benson Curtis “ Ben” Beard Jr., 67, Passed Away Friday, August 1, 2014 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Ben was born in Cumberland County on October 13, 1946 to the late Benson Curtis Beard Sr. and Clara Sessoms Beard. He graduated from Grays Creek High School and attended NC State University. After college he entered the United States Navy and served in Vietnam. He was very proud of his accomplishment in the US Navy. He retired from Monsanto as an Electronics Instrumentation Technician in 2001. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be greatly missed. He loved the country life and was an avid animal lover. Most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Tanya Talton and husband Ken of Cameron, NC; his son, Brent Beard and wife Kristen of Myrtle Beach, SC; a brother, Connie Keith Beard of Grays Creek; a granddaughter, Chloe Beard; a grandson, Joshua Allen and a step-grandson, Matthew Fowler.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at Bladen Union Baptist Church, 2224 Bladen Union Church Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28306 with Pastor Gary Lucas and Chaplain Dan Capri officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at Bladen Union Baptist Church.
