SFC Paul Thomas Simmons, 79, passed away Sunday, October 31st, 2021 in his home.
SFC Simmons was born in Dyersburg, TN on March 22, 1942, son to the late Jim and Wilcie Laws Simmons. He joined the US Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired in 1991 after 26 years of service. He later was employed and retired from the State of North Carolina. He taught classes with the State of North Carolina DWI Booze it & Lose it. Paul loved Corvettes and had a collection of over 30. He loved his dog, Sammy and loved to go on vacation with his wife in the mountains. SFC Simmons was actively involved with the VFW and always attended their meetings. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
SFC Simmons served with utmost distinction and received the following awards and decorations for his service, Army Service ribbon, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Purple Heart (2), National Defense Service medal, Air Medal, (2), Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, Parachute Badge, Overseas Service Ribbon (2), Bronze Star (2OLC) w, V Device, Army Good Conduct Medal, Ranger Tab, Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal, (1OLC).
He is survived by his loving wife, Stanislava Simmons of the home, his children, grandchildren and many extended family members.
A Graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd, Fort Bragg, NC 28310.
