MAJ Morgan Joseph ‟Chuckie” Hodges, Jr., 72, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, February 4, 2023 in his home surrounded by his family.
Chuckie was born in Washington, DC on July 10, 1950, son to the late Morgan Joseph Hodges Sr. and Mary Christine Greenhow Hodges. While attending the University of Nebraska, he majored in pre-law and was drafted and joined the US Air Force in 1971. He received his Masters Degree in business from UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School of UNC Chapel Hill in 1996 and taught there for four years.
Major Morgan served with the upmost honor and distinction and received the following awards and decorations while serving in the US Air Force, the Meritorious Service Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Standing Unit Award with two Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award one Oak Leaf Cluster, Combat Readiness Medal, National Service Medal with one Bronze Star, Humanitarian Service Medal two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters and Air Force Training Ribbon.
He is survived by his wife Amy Hodges of Fayetteville; daughters, Serena Yoo and husband Young Tae Yoo, Sara Hodges and Sylvia Hodges, all of Raleigh, NC; siblings, Cheryl Childs, Crystal Hodges-Miller, Mark Hodges and Cathy Hodges, all of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Harrison Yoo and Audrey Yoo, both of Raleigh, NC and a host of extended family members. He will be remembered as a kind, loving and hardworking son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to all those who had the fortune of meeting him.
Visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, February 16, 2023 at LaFayette Funeral Home6651 Raeford Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304.
Funeral Services will be 12:30 PM at The Korean Baptist Church, 6873 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314.
Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at 2:00 PM in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery, 8220 Bragg Blvd Fort Bragg, NC 2830.
